Water shut-off & conformance

Knowledge and skills required to effectively manage excess water production and improve conformance using the latest technologies and techniques

Intermediate level | 3 days | In-person or remote

This comprehensive three-day program will equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively manage excess water production and improve conformance using the latest technologies and techniques, with a focus on chemical technologies.

Course objectives

In this three-day training course, our main objectives are to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of water shut-off and conformance. Beginning with the foundational knowledge of excess water production and its economic implications, we aim to delve deep into the strategic methodologies to counteract these challenges. Participants will gain insights into the existing technologies, focusing particularly on the nuances of chemical solutions. The course also seeks to highlight the role and importance of gels in fracture management and introduces attendees to a plethora of other technologies like RPM, PPG, microgels, and CDG. Finally, through real-world field examples, we aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, offering a pragmatic view of how these technologies and strategies are employed in real scenarios, complete with both successes and lessons learned. By the end of this course, attendees should be well-equipped to implement effective water shut-off and conformance strategies, optimizing both production and economic outcomes.

Who should attend

Geologists, production engineers, completion engineers, reservoir engineers, and managers concerned with the ever-increasing volumes of “bad” water produced and how to mitigate these issues

What our participants have to say

As the major world’s oilfields aging, excessive water production became a common problem. The good news that this issue can be mitigated relying on systematic and consistent engineering approach.

Kudos to Antoine THOMAS who has delivered comprehensive water shutoff and conformance control course. The course dives into aspects of water problem diagnostics, approaches to tackle different water problems, treatment selection, design and recipe selection.

With broad experience across multiple countries and perfect teaching skills of Antoine, I highly recommend all my network connections who are interested to learn WSO & conformance control to reach him out and benefit of well packed insightful course.
